The AQHA Leveling Program has been implemented in 2013. The Leveling Program is optional for AQHA classes when applying for your shows. The QHAA Board of Directors voted to not level its early shows for 2013. Based on advice from AQHA contacts that are very familiar with our shows in Alberta and because the program is so new the board felt it was in our best interest to wait on leveling at this time. The board wished to wait for any kinks in the program to be worked out before we applied it to our QHAA shows. But look for leveling in Alberta in the future. We will keep you all posted on our decisions on this item. If you have any questions regarding leveling in Alberta, please contact President Diane Gallant. Click here for her contact information. She will be happy to chat with you about this or any other questions you might have for the QHAA. We thank you for your patience and your interest in our 2013 show program! DIANE GALLANT
What a great evening it was, special thanks to our banquet and awards "helpers", Kate Bamford, Diane Gallant, Melissa Izon, Cheyenne Izon, Deb Salmon and Steve Schiestel(announcer).
We advanced our time for this event and used the Holiday Inn South in Red Deer for the first time. The central location continues to work out great for our members.
Thank you to Sherri Soppitt who organized the silent auction for the evening and she posted our donors on the QHAA face book page, but a little repetition is good when it comes to thank you's.
The donors were:,Cheryl Smythe, Betty Ann Vivian, Chris Miller, Rich Zenner-Miller, Sandy Kirtzinger,
And the people that supplied the cash to purchase-the successful bidders were:
Leslie McCleave, Pat Russell, Deserie Armstrong, Jennifer Gallant, Chris & Rich Miller,
Thanks everyone; your support goes right back into the Association.
A really fun part of our evening....well really fun for one person at each table that had a special chair....they received a basket of goodies....A Large Basket! All of these baskets, and you can get an idea of how many tables were involved by a photo below, were donated by "Stan & Bonne Quance". Stan and Bonnie wanted to give back randomly and this was a great way to share in the evening! They are always the unofficial "hospitality stall" at our shows!

Congratulations to John and Gail Muirhead of Camrose. The Muirheads bred and raised the AQHA World Show Champion of the Weanling Colt class, "Its Gameday". Its Gameday is by Mr Touchdown Kid and out of JGM Sierras Sequel. The Muirheads have been showing halter horses in Alberta for many, many years. They hauled this colt south to be fit for the World Show and subsequently sold him. It is great to see an Alberta bred do so, so well!
The Gowers of Lloydminister, AB, had a double header in the Senior Trail. They purchased two horses before the Congress and Wow!! they were... one...two in the class when the results were read. Now, those folks know how to chose their horse purchases! "Design By Leaguer", a black gelding was first and "She Made It Happen", a bay mare was second. It's certain that we will hear lots on win news by the Gowers with these fine horses in the future.
Patti Seiller our board member in charge publicity has been doing a great job of updating our Facebook page. For more on the news of the World and Congress success stories by our good Alberta horses and owners go to our Facebook page.

The AQHA manned a booth at the Calgary Stampede's 100th Anniversary event for the very first time. AQHA members could register foals for a reduced rate and transfer horses at reduced rates as well. These things and the multitude of questions that the Charlie Hemphill and the rest of the AQHA gang answered kept them very busy while they were here. Charlie said that "it had been just great and the "Stampede" was likely to see them back". Even Executive Director, Don Treadway was up to Calgary for one day to see the show! With more AQHA horses and AQHA members in Canada than any other province and rated 4th among all states, provinces and countries, Alberta proved to be an area that AQHA needs to show up to!
The Canadian Quarter Horse Association had their promotional banner(pictured with AB AQHA director, Wayne Burwash on Right) along side the AQHA's and handed out Canadian information as well.
